Welcome to the St John's Mead School Web Site

A warm welcome to St John's Mead School. We are situated in the Market town of Chipping Sodbury lying at the foot of the southern Cotswold escarpment below Dodington Park in southern Gloucestershire 8 miles north-east of Bristol. As the Chipping in its name implies, it was once an important market centre in medieval times and stands at the crossroads on the main route between Bristol, Oxford and London.

St John's Mead School is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England Primary School which serves the community of Chipping Sodbury in South Gloucestershire and is controlled by the Local Authority. Voluntary controlled schools are schools that were originally controlled by the Church.

The school currently has 308 primary aged pupils and a Nursery for 60 children. The school teaches the National Curriculum and religious education follows the Local Education Authority's agreed syllabus.

WOW!  Huge THANKS go to James Maillardet and Blake Coleman for the stunning efforts they have put into moving, rebuilding and renovating our Nursery sandpit and play area.  The hours and hard work given by these wonderful gentlemen has ensured a play area the children will be delighted to explore tomorrow.  These two parents definitely demonstrated a growth mindset approach to life, learning and problem solving!  Thank you!  If you would also like to be involved in revitalising the outdoor learning environment please let us know; we will be holding a Saturday Working Party very soon - watch this space.

Our thanks go to everyone who was able to support our Red Nose Day Mufti on Friday.  We raised just over £200.

Congratulations to the Junior Swimming Team for doing so well at the Saturday Swimming Gala yesterday - not only did the Year 5/6 team win the 4 x 25m relay, it looks like they have set a new course record.  Photo and more info to follow.  Huge thanks go to Mrs Pritchard (who supported the team all evening) and Mrs Hodey for all their help.
